Desktop Reader

The Desktop Reader is a stand-alone unit you use in mail sort operations to validate bar coding and database integrity. The unit works with a standard PC, laptop or thin client to decode 4-state bar and 'bar/no bar' bar codes on letters and flats. The Desktop Reader uses the bar code data on these mail items to:

  • Check the quality of the printing (bar spacing and pitch)
  • Display the coded data
  • Connect to a remote database to find the mail item history.
  • Evaluate coding accuracy
  • Check the amount of time the letter has been in the mail system
